The image of the day
Here you can view the very latest MODIS image acquired at the EURAC over the Alps and Northern Italy. Flying over 700 km above the Earth onboard NASA's Earth Observing System (EOS) Terra and Aqua satellites, MODIS is capable of imaging the Earth at resolutions ranging from 250 meters to 1 kilometer in 36 spectral bands. The MODIS bands 4, 3, and 1 are displayed here as true color image. You can enter the MODIS image section of the EURAC Web by clicking on the image of the day.

Since March 2009, two satellites, TERRA and AQUA, have sent the images they took from Europe down to the EURAC own receiving station. The project, financed by the Province of Bolzano/Bozen, is designed to support the acquisition of data received from optical and radar sensors of different EO satellite missions.
A sophisticate and redundant IT- infrastructure for data processing and storage guarantees a continuous access to the actual and historical data. Built in the framework of the Institute for Applied Remote Sensing, the receiving station allows to develop remote sensing based applications as well as to deliver data to the user in very short time.
At this time several added value products as snow cover or cloud masks are being delivered to the Civil Protection of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano and other users.
