The project involves the exploitation of a coffee roasting waste, the Silverskin, through the production of paper. To better integrate this process in the circular economy, the selective extraction of components that can be used in the cosmetic industry and the functionalization of some of them is also foreseen. The lipid phase and the polyphenols with antioxidant activity will then be selectively extracted, also in supercritical CO2. The latter will then be made more lipophilic by esterification with fatty alcohols. The effectiveness of the molecules obtained will be tested and the most promising will be formulated in cosmetic products with anti-aging and anti-pollution activities. Finally, the sustainability of the whole process will be evaluated through life cycle analysis (LCA / LCC) from the energy point of view.
