In December 2022 Paola Fontanella Pisa, Programme Associate to the GLOMOS team and PhD Candidate at Tohoku University (Japan), has been invited as fellow to the Japan-UK Research and Education Network for Knowledge Economy Initiatives (RENKEI) Winter School. The RENKEI is a consortium of universities in the United Kingdom and Japan, including Tohoku University, where researchers from both countries met to discuss the themes in relation to ‘Future climate risks, and building adaptation and resilience to them’. On the occasion of this event, Paola Fontanella Pisa has presented her research, and has been awarded the Seed Funding first prize to implement a transdisciplinary project with colleagues from Osaka University, Newcastle University and Southampton University. The Densho-Adapt project, which is to be completed between January and September 2023, foresees the development and implementation of a participatory workshop model. The workshops, that will take place in May 2023, aim at building a holistic picture of the impacts of climate-change related events into the agricultural community of Tadami Biosphere Reserve in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. The workshops will allow to co-construct narratives through understanding how people make sense of and talk about and remember/memorialize recent changes and hazards in their living environment.
